Mazdaspeed Miata Cup is pure racing excitment for those who love close competition. These cars are all first generation Mazda Miatas that are similarly prepared. The competition is divided between the East and West coasts. There is an Atlantic
and Pacific championships. This type of raceing is very economical as the Miatas can be had for cheap and there are rules that restrict the types of modification that can be done. This type of racing focuses more on driver talent than car modifications.
You can run either the 1.6 or 1.8 liter cars however the 1.8 liter cars have a heavier weight restriction on them.
To get involved in this type of racing, you will need to become an SCCA member. Now that doesn't mean that you can only race your Miata with the SCCA, we just mean that in order to be involved in the SCCA Spec Miata program, you have to race with the SCCA. Now the Mazdaspeed Miata Cup is a professional level championship series however you can get involved at the local club level as well.
