April 22 - Jeff Gordon has posted the top qualifying time today at the Phoenix Internation Raceway (PIR). The race is set for this Saturday, April 23 at 8:00 pm Eastern time.

PIR is one of the four tracks that Jeff has yet to take a first place at. However the odds are against Gorden as no pole sitter has won in the last 17 races at PIR. Gorden says that his car is the best he's ever had at the track and is hoping to put another knotch in his helmet by taking first on Saturday.

"The funny thing is I went into qualifying thinking we have a great race car," Gordon said. "I expected to qualify 20th and have a good race car. The conditions changed, we made adjustments, the car was tight and we freed it up and it did the things we wanted it to do."

Other top qualifyers for Saturdays race are Greg Biffle, Bobby Labonte, Brian Vickers, and Kurt Bush.
