In the American Le Mans Series, Lehto and Werner took first place last Monday by winning the at Lime Rock Park. The New England Grand Prix was the setting for this exciting race that ended with JJ Lehto and Marco Werner taking first and put them back into a tie for the series lead.

This was a very exciting race as Frank Biela and Emanuele Pirro were running just seconds behind the Lehto/Werner team for about the last hour of the race. James Weaver was certainly the fastest car on the track and was in the lead for much of the race. However with 10 minutes to go in the race, he broke a throttle cable and that was it for the No. 16 Dyson Racing teams Lola. He and teamate Butch Leitzinger put up a hell of a fight though.

Another team that did well was the No. 4 Corvette Racing Vette driven by Olivier Beretta and Oliver Gavin. This was their first victory in the American Le Mans Series for the year. Things didn't go so well for their sister car, the No. 3 C6-R driven by Ron Fellows and Johnny O'Connell. They ended up hitting the tire barrier in Turn 8 and finished second to the No. 4 car.

The next race for the American Le Mans Series is the Infineon Technologies Grand Prix of Sonoma on July 17 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif. Race start time is scheduled for 11 a.m. PST.
